We are doing better every day. The house damage has been assessed and it pretty much needs to be fixed from the ground up. All the floors need to be replaced and all the walls need to be dug out and reinsulated and a million other things. We found a rental back in California and will be moving within the next two months. We’re very excited. We’re headed back to the desert, away from all the craziness with plenty of room for all the animals.
We’re going to have to juggle rents and mortgage and handle the repairs long distance but all things considered we feel pretty lucky. We just lost stuff. Others in Austin and around the world have not been as lucky.
The outpouring from friends in comics, music and the horror scene was one of the most amazing things that have ever happened to me. Seeing the auctions by some of my favorite artists and friends was amazing and we feel so touched to have people in our lives that care so much. This could have been a major disaster for us but because of all of you we are able to get back on our feet and back to work fast.
We want to urge people who still want to help to maybe donate to others in need. There are many in Austin still without homes or shelter, the Philippines has been hit hard, the Midwest is reeling and we still have families trying to get back in their homes after Sandy.
Here are some links that might help:
