Okay...I Was Wrong...and Very Happy to be Wrong!

Whoop! Whoop! Newsflash!

SO, I really thought Indies would take a big hit as a result of DC's 52 reboot, relaunch promotion...and it looks like I was wrong.

I'm hearing good things from a lot of publishers. Seems people are coming for the 52 and checking out other books!

Here's an excerpt from a recent interview with IDW's Ted Adams on the subject.

Rich: There’s an elevated burst of interest in comics right now due to DC’s New 52 initiative. How is IDW responding or reacting to that, if at all?

Ted: We didn’t change our publishing plans because of DC’s relaunch but there’s no question we’re benefiting from the renewed interest in their titles. Our pre-orders and re-orders are up almost across the board and we’re finding ourselves going back to press on titles. We always take a strong inventory position on our books so when an IDW book sells out it’s not something that we’ve manufactured.

So, there's some good news. :)

We'll have to see how things go now that the excitement of the #1 will pass, but I think this is great. More people checking out comics. I have no complaints.

I love comics and I want them to thrive.

Bernie Wrightson 30 Days of Night Cover!

Wrightson does it again!

While Bernie and I are working on Frankenstein 2 Alive! Alive! I asked Bernie if he could take a break to do a cover for the new 30 Days of Night series. Wrightson delivered and then some!

 We were so happy with it, everyone unanimously decided not to color it. Following are images with and without the only color it will see, the logo.

Now available online is the most fun I've had writing a comic in a longggggg time. Vikings versus the Thing! Anything I say will give away the plot, but I hope you like it. 

It was a blast to do. And working with Reynolds, Stewart and Menton3 has been amazing. I'd work with this team on Little LuLu is given the chance.

A whole mess of news and updates!

I just realized I've only blogged lately about creator rights, reboots and piracy, so I thought I'd get off my damn soapbox for a moment and just talk about some fun stuff.

I did something this morning I almost never do. I wrote a list of everything I have coming up, deadlines, new projects and appearances and realized I have a shitload going on! Most of it I can talk about, some I can’t but I thought I’d try my best to update everything.

Coming up next week is my appearance, along with Max Brooks, on DEADLIEST WARRIOR on Spike! We are having the ultimate horror fan debate: who would win if zombies battled vampires!

Working now with Chris Mitten and Michelle Madsen under the watchful eye of Scott Allie and Daniel Chabon I feel like we have finally hit a stride with the series and by the reactions so far (see review below) we are on the right track.
