FEAR 3 is coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC this autumn, series fans will be pleased to know.
This isn't just any old announcement, though -- the game features favourite Alma and also her sons Point Man and Paxton Fettel (she sure has strange taste in names); with them comes co-op play.
Point Man, of course, was introduced in the original game -- he's a genetically enhanced super soldier. Fettel, meanwhile, is the telekinetic type, and as such has risen from the grave.
Co-op is a tricky thing in horror games, but maybe they can pull it off. Single-player will of course be present, too.
Only other thing about the gameplay we can say at this stage is it will feature an "evolved cover system."
Speaking of "they", FEAR 3 will be developed by Day 1 Studios, who developed the original game, the most high-rated series entry yet (excepting the multiplayer-only FEAR Combat). The folks who worked on the second title -- Monolith Productions -- will be collaborating with them, so with any luck we'll get the best of both worlds. Warner Bros. will be publishing.
If that wasn't enough for you, horror director John Carpenter (Halloween, Village of the Damned) and horror comic and script writer Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) will be consulting to "enhance" the experience. Niles has co-written the script with the development team, while Carpenter advised on the cinematics.
In short, there's lots to be excited about.
